Now in its Seventh Edition, Neil J. Salkind’s bestselling Statistics for People Who (Think They) Hate Statistics with new co-author Bruce B. Frey teaches an often intimidating subject with a humorous, personable, and informative approach that reduces statistics anxiety. With instruction in SPSS®, the authors guide students through basic and advanced statistical procedures, from correlation and graph creation to analysis of variance, regression, non-parametric tests, and more.  The Seventh Edition includes new real-world examples, additional coverage on multiple regression and power and effect size, and a robust interactive eBook with video tutorials and animations of key concepts. In the end, students who (think they) hate statistics will understand how to explain the results of many statistical analyses and won’t be intimidated by basic statistical tasks.

The book itself is great, but I had to return it because my class was not even using it at all. I would reccomend making sure you will truly use the book or not.

I’ve used plenty of stats text books in college, grad school, and in my professional career & this is my favorite. It explains concepts in plain language and gives thoughtful examples that walk you through the concepts. It’s certainly the best text to help you learn to apply statistics to understanding everyday life.

It’s light on theory-I don’t recall seeing any proofs or calculus-and heavy on the intuition. For that reason, it’s best for high school students taking AP stats, or introductory classes in college, or those of us who’ve been out of school for years and need a refresher. But math or stats majors, engineers, and economists will find it suitable only as an accompaniment to their more technical books.

      Best stats book ever

This is probably the best stats book I have ever owned. It’s easy to read and relate the concepts to everyday application.

Besides being extremely student centered and user friendly, the authors poured their heart and soul into this work. It’s far more than merely an excellent text book. These guys get it when it comes to combining teaching, effort, and empathy in order to achieve student learning. They left no stone unturned and stamped their signatures upon enduring excellence!

Todavía no pongo en práctica lo sugerido por el autor del ilbro. Espero la reanudación de los cursos para evaluar su utilidad práctica, para usarlo en el curso de metodología que imparto. Ahora están suspendido por el impacto del COVID-19

I think this book has a great name and delivers statistics with ease. I could not believe how easy this book made the subject matter. Love it! I am not good at math, but I feel a lot better about statistics for quantitative research.

    12. Marlies F (verified owner)

reading this book was required for my statistics class but, unlike I expected it to be, it was well written and nice to read. Actually, this book helped me to understand even difficult themes. I can recommend it confidently.

    15. Abigail (verified owner)

The writer is pretty great. I found myself laughing while reading for my stats homework and I was surprised I can be happy when reading a school textbook

    16. Cassie (verified owner)

The authors are engaging, used Plain Language, and even included a brownie recipe. How could anyone read this book and not like statistics afterwards?

I took a stats class early in my college career and tanked it miserably. I was convinced from that point on that statistics just was not my thing and never really would be. Fast forward to my current classes where an introductory stats was part of the curriculum in the form of quantitative research and I was in fear of my current goals going down the tubes. When the required text for this class arrived, I opened it tentatively and was surprised to find that it didn’t read like it was written by a computer program. Very understandable and human breakdowns interlaced with practice and exercises designed to break down complex ideas in simple terms. It will take work for people who struggle, this book is good but it isn’t a miracle but it is done in a way that is doable. It helps if you have access to a program like SPSS as well to be able to follow along with it. I felt like statistics was something that I wouldn’t fully understand but this book has helped immensely just by being relatable.

This book was such a huge help! It explained everything throughly and even stated if certain things would be harder topics but explained it through perfectly in order for me to get my homework done! I would say if I used another book for stats I would’ve failed so highly recommend this book!! Use it! It came in perfect shape with no flaws!
